Describing the Maniototo

Stories from Kowhai Author's

The soft, crunchy snow lays on the pointy tips of the mountain. The sun pushes down on the snow as it gets lighter and lighter. The sun glazes on the mountain tops.

Standing like a statue in the wilderness all of the mountains bunch up in a long line. Feeling relaxed I look at the mountains. A feeling that brushes through me.

White deep snow sits silent on the mountain top, shrinking from the rain. Stones crunch up and fall through a rainy evening. The freezing snow slips from the edge. Ginormous mountains come from plates of land. The powerful sun melts the snow creating shimmering lakes and rivers. The mountains with huge valleys all different shapes and sizes.

I'm standing at the foot of the mountain. The snow freezing mountains stand tall in the field in the morning sun. They stand squahed together not moving never able to seperate or take into flight. Crunch! IAs I walk over the snow it sounds like rocks under my feet. The shiny misty gullys collect snow catching it as it falls.

Splash! The snow melts. Freezing!

One powerful day the mountains were asleep. The gold miners trucks and diggers and loaders came. They woke the mountains up. The madness  came to the gold mine reckless and working. Workers returned to their homes. The mountains went back to a peaceful sleep.

The breezy wind blowing through the mountains. The snow was perfectly landing on the flat mountain tops. Paddocks are dirty and dry. The sun was powerfully pushing down on the flaky snow. There were puffy dark clouds. The breeze tumbles the snow away.

Standing lonely on a silvery path. Skipping - steady, stretching, gently balancing on one foot. Shyly walking through the breezy wind. Leaping, silently pushing the ball across the road.

My Day Skiing

I went on a ski trip. It was cold with little breezes and white surfaces. I had long ski's that were hard to control. The slopes were all different sizes. Some big and some small. There were children everywhere. I was trying not to bump into them.

Carlie and I wanted to do different things. The problem was we only ad one adult. The problem got bigger as Charlie go tired. There were friends to help us. Hooray!!

The Tunnel

Down, down, down through the beautiful tunnel, following the endless path. Covered in spring coloured flowers and shiny green leaves that sway in the rocky wind. In Autumn everything will change, the leaves. The tunnel leads me home from my adventure.

The wind blew strongly and the cotton candy clouds fall out of the sky. The sky dissappeared back into the clouds again.

Learning our own way in Kowhai

Jottings from Kowhai

I was floating in the air like the clouds. It is like I wanted to see the stars. I got an amazing feeling in my tummy. Mita

My favourite hideout is a tree  house in an old oak tree. It makes me feel special. When I creep on the floor it sounds like the house is snoring. Jacob

I saw some sparkly paper and it twirled and danced like butterflies in the wind. It tossed and sparkled in the light. Then one day out came the kittens and they played with the paper.
